Second Year

I started my 2nd year after a long summer in which I spent much time renovating my flat. This involved a lot of long days skimming walls and so on with work still continues today. Then there was a very welcome brake traveling in California with the highlight having to be spending a lot of time in the mountains of the seara Nevada. This lead to what was perhaps a slow start to 2nd year with work on going in the flat and my head still roaming around in the mountains.

The first project of second year was to design a Bathing Space. My idea was a large glass box submerged in the river scar i am currently looking out images for this but they seem to have gone a stray.

Next was a great project, it was a furniture project in which we designed and best of all built our pieces. This was our first group project and most enjoyable. I have always really enjoyed working with wood but have not always had much opportunity to do so, so getting into the workshop was a good experience. We decided on a coffee table. We inlaid edges of ply board into solid wood. This created and interesting finish.
Another very enjoyable project was a sustainability project in which we had to design a house and workshop for a Book Conservationist. This project started with us attending book binding courses run by our client.
