Thesis project inital ideas and research

Below is a selection of work that I presented at the DCA.

This collage of images is a visual representation of key elements of my project, farming, nature, and renewables, all things I want to incorporate in my community.

Historical Photo shows the once industrial hussel and bussle of Dundee Centre.

This image shows the site of Queen Victoria works in its delapitating state. This will form the site for an eco community.
This aerial image highlights the areas for development.
The buildings highlighted red are the only structures that will be completely restored and converted to an alternative use. The outer wall of the site will also be renovated in an attempt to keep historical features. Some photos of the site.As part of my research and search for inspiration I visited the Scottish Housing Expo outside Inverness, which showcased ecological buildings.

I also visited the Findhorn Foundation which is an eco village on the east coast of Scotland. I made this trip as I intend to take eco village practise and principles and develop them within an urban environment.
Above are concepts for the development of vertical farming, something I intend to develop and incorporate in my design.
